                                        According to market research firm IHS, as smart mobile and wearable devices become more popular and popular, the demand for innovative flexible displays continues to increase; in fact, revenues from flexible displays are expected to be 2016 by 2022. From $3.7 billion to $15.5 billion, the growth rate is over 300%, and by 2020, flexible display revenue will account for 13% of the total display market revenue.
Samsung and LG Electronics launched the world's first AMOLED smartphones with flexible displays in 2013, and the two companies continue to improve flexible displays for smartphones, smart watches and fitness trackers. Their success has spurred other mobile device manufacturers to grab the flexible display market.
Jerry Kang, principal analyst at IHS Technology Display Research, said: "The types of flexible displays include screens that can be bent, rolled and edged up; and fully foldable screens are expected to be available in the next two years;" he added: “There are only a few vendors such as Samsung Display, LGD, E-ink and Futaba that regularly launch flexible displays on the market, but more and more panel makers are eager to try. Want to build its flexible display production capacity with the latest AMOLED display technology."
According to the IHS Flexible Display Market Tracker, flexible displays are mainly used in smartphones and smart watches in 2016; it is expected that by 2022, flexible displays will be popularized on tablets, near-eye virtual reality (VR) devices, Other applications such as automotive displays and OLED TVs. Kang also said: "Consumer equipment manufacturers will eventually need to reform the rectangular appearance of their traditional flat-panel displays, giving way to the latest bendable, rollable and extendable screens."
