According to the latest data from market Research company Sino Research, in the first half of 2024, the share of Chinese display companies in the global smartphone OLED display shipments reached 50.7%.
The figure was up 10.1 percentage points from 40.6 percent in the first half of 2023, surpassing South Korea, which had long held the top spot.
Previously, China occupied the first place in the smartphone OLED display market for the first time with a market share of 53.4% in the first quarter, and despite subsequent fluctuations, it still maintained a high share of 50.7% in the first half of the year.
In terms of specific companies, Samsung showed that it still ranked first with a market share of 43.8%, but it has decreased from the market share of 51.6% in the same period in 2023.
China's boe ranked second with 13.8 percent market share, while Vicigna almost doubled its market share from 7.4 percent in the first half of 2023 to 11.3 percent.
This performance was achieved thanks to strong demand from Chinese smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo, which have launched smartphones using domestic OLED displays.
South Korean display manufacturers, including Samsung Display and LG Display, saw their market share fall to 49.3 percent from 59.4 percent in 2023. Since losing the top spot in the LCD market in 2021, South Korean manufacturers have been focusing on the OLED display market.
